Routine inspection before heavy heating or cooling seasons can identify maintenance needs before peak demand.
Temperature split is the difference between return-air and supply-air temperature. It is one diagnostic clue—not a complete diagnosis by itself.
During extreme outdoor heat, system capacity, insulation, solar gain, air leakage and equipment condition all affect indoor temperature. A setpoint alone does not guarantee the building can maintain it.
Long run times can be normal during extreme weather. Unusual noises, burning odors, repeated cycling, ice buildup or sudden performance changes deserve attention.
Age, condition, repair history, efficiency, comfort and repair cost should be considered together. APEX can evaluate the equipment before a replacement decision is made.
